New York Governor Eliot Spitzer Apologizes After Hooker Link Identified

According to MSNBC, New York Governor Eliot Spitzer publicly apologized for acting in a way that violates his obligations to his family.

This apology comes after the New York times reported that Eliot Spitzer was connected to a high end prostitution ring named “Emperors Club VIP.”  According to reports, Governor Eliot Spitzer was caught on a Federal wiretap arranging for a rendezvous with a high paid hooker (some paid as much as $5,500 per hour).  It is noted that in the wiretap, client number 9 was identified as Governor Spitzer.

According to reports, Eliot Spitzer stormed out of the room and slammed the door behind him when reporters repeatedly asked if he was going to resign.

In the news reports, I did not see anything that remotely hinted Eliot Spitzer apologized to the public.  Has he grown so self absorbed that he thinks he is above apologizing to those that elected him to do a job and keep his appendage in his pants?

Americans are desensitized to political scandal.  In fact, I believe people expect it and therefore accept it.  While this may be similar to Bill Clinton’s ordeal, the fact remains prostitution is illegal.  And from a multiple term State Attorney General, he certainly knew it was illegal.

It’s time to throw out the trash and demand the resignation of Governor Eliot Spitzer.  If he can’t keep his appendage in his pants, can he keep his hands out of the wallets of the corrupt?  His character is certainly questionable, and his lack of apology to the citizens is deplorable.  It’s time that Eliot Spitzer be removed from office so that he does not further abuse his authority and diminish the respect a Governorship should hold.  The citizens of New York deserve a Governor that represents their interests and their personal family values.
