Why Bush Can’t Be Trusted with $700 Billion

Like a racing horse with blinders on, The Bush Administration has blindly raced this country to near economic ruin.  The Jockeys in this case are corporate America, led by their huge lobbying efforts over the years.  From what we have witnessed over the course of the last eight years, we can not trust giving the Bush Administration $700 billion of our money.

First, let’s look at the Iraq War.  Some will argue that there was or was not just cause for invading that country.  Few will argue that Iraq was more stable, and less of a threat, under Saddam Hussein’s rule.  Many billions of dollars later, Iraq is still unstable and now is home to more terrorists then ever before.

We can also look at the Bush Administration’s efforts on Katrina.  FEMA was a huge failure in this case and let many thousands of people suffer.  The leadership was so poor in this case, that people were dieing as they waited for help.  To make matters worse, they helped thousands of people live in temporary housing trailers with unsafe levels formaldehyde.  They even ignored warnings when people were complaining of being sick after staying in these tainted trailers.

And let’s not forget the number of product recalls from China.  The Bush Administration failed to protect our children from toys with unsafe levels of lead.  Even after recalls had been made, the same products were being sold at smaller retail stores and on eBay.  And still to this day we have no idea if these imported toys are safe or not.  In fact, an interview of Chinese parents indicated that they themselves avoid buying toys manufactured in their own country!

Personally, I hope Congress takes a hard look at President Bush’s many major failures in office.  Congress should come to the same conclusion I and many others have.  Everything President Bush touches turns to crap, and he certainly can’t be trusted with $700 billion.  He has already pissed away enough of our money.

I fear that this bailout is Bush’s last big giveaway to corporations.  And with only three pages of information on this bailout, there is so much wiggle room for Bush and has gang of criminals to hand out billions of dollars without any oversight.  Congress would be foolish to give President Bush even $1 without at least an explanation of how he intends on wasting it.
